Intro:
The Brookline Teen Center, a non-profit drop-in, out-of-school time facility, stands as a beacon for teens in the Brookline area, offering a diverse range of programs, activities, and events facilitated by dedicated staff and volunteers. Rooted in the mission of transforming lives, the center aims to connect its members with essential experiences, resources, and support for success both within and beyond the school environment.
Goal:
In the realm of design, the overarching goal for the Brookline Teen Center project was to effectively communicate with and engage the teenage population in the Brookline area. As the project director, the aim was not only to inform teenagers about upcoming events and workshops but also to instill a sense of involvement and enthusiasm. The concept, "What's your passion?" was developed through thorough research into the preferences, likes, and dislikes of Brookline teenagers. Understanding their affinity for certain colors, shapes, and urban hip-hop vibes, the design team crafted an abstract concept that seamlessly integrated with the Brookline Teen Center's colors and logo. The final step involved incorporating a communication aspect, recognizing the significance of social media in teens' lives. The team introduced the hashtag #BTC as a means for teens to interact and engage across various social media platforms in response to the design.
Results:
The results of this design project materialized in a visually appealing and effective communication strategy for the Brookline Teen Center. The 'What's your passion?' concept, tailored to the preferences of Brookline teenagers, successfully captured their attention and engagement. The abstract design, harmonizing with the center's visual identity, resonated well with the target audience. The strategic addition of the #BTC hashtag provided a direct avenue for teens to participate and share their experiences on social media, fostering a sense of community and interaction. Collectively, these results contribute to an impactful and resonant design that fulfills the project's goal of efficiently communicating with and involving teenagers in the Brookline community.
